Girls Tennis Fall 2007

The Varsity Team this year is a young team. The girls ended the regular season at 13-7 and a second place finish in the Sea View League. Varsity Coach, Ric Barth, is quite proud of their accomplishments.

The # 1 Doubles team of Lyndsay Caro and Nory Call let the squad in victories. Allison Reeve and Jennifer Wooten also had a successful season playing in the # 2 Doubles spot. Brooke Sedele and May Sumi filled out the Doubles pairings in the # 3 position. In the always-challenging singles arena, Jamie Lai played in our # 1 position, followed by Nakisa Vahdat in the #2 slot, and Maddie Allenspach in the # 3 position. Senior, Chloe Haddad, contributed in both singles and doubles as the team required. Regina Lee and Bronti Patterson were side-lined for much of the season, due to injuries.

The girls improved significantly this season and all of the experience from this year will benefit them as they compete in the CIF playoffs next week and the years to come!

The JV team also had a solid season, finishing at 13-5 and third place in the league due to the one loss against Huntington Beach HS and the cancellation of the second match due to the recent wildfires. Hayley Amspoker and Lauren Wooten are competing in the finals of the JV League Tournament in Doubles this week.

The top singles player for the team was Alison Chen. Also successful in singles were Subrina Cariaga, Neda Sahebelm, and Elicia Chen. The Doubles Teams of Sara Alleyasin and Corliss Mejia, Zoe Haddad and Jessica Nguyen, and Zania Lobo and Briana Hollabaugh all had winning seasons as well.

According to Coach William Bell, the WHS JV team rules the League in spirit and in snacks!
