Girls Lacrosse Beats Crosstown Rival
Woodbridge 12, Irvine 6: Girls Lacrosse completed a season sweep of Irvine, defeating the Vaqueros 12-6 on Friday. Irvine jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but the draw control and scoring of junior Elise Tang and shooting of freshman Kara Hericks lead the lady Warriors to victory. Junior Rachael Hudson had another fine game in goal, aided by strong defensive efforts by sophomores Karen Cheng and Ellen Boyer. With only fifteen girls able to dress for the game, it truly was a full team effort to overcome an aggressive, athletic Vaquero squad.
This victory improves the team’s record against fellow first year programs to 4-1. A busy week lies ahead, with a game against Dana Hills Monday at Alton Park, followed by road contests against Northwood on Wednesday and county power Los Alamitos on Friday.
