Babcock sets 2 Meet Records at Irvine Invitational
Woodbridge senior Christine Babcock set two meet records at the 29th Annual Irvine Invitational on Saturday at Irvine Stadium. ** NEW ** Irvine World News (3/11/08) coverage.
In the 1600 meters, Christine broke her own Irvine Invitational mark of 4:53.28 that she set in last year's meet. This year, she led from the start to finish with a time of 4:51.56. Later in the day, Christine also broke the 3200-meter mark with a time of 10:33.46. She followed those two feats in the very next event by running the third leg of the Warriors 4x400-meter relay with a split time of just over 60 seconds.

Other Warriors also had great days. Freshman Gabrielle Scott won the Girls 400 meters with a personal best of 57.66 seconds followed by a sixth-place tie in the 200 meters with a time of 26.84. Dozens of personal bests were set on Saturday including:
- Junior Adam Garrett - 400m - 51.83;
- Freshman Shylo Lontayao - 400m - 54.84 in only his third 400 ever;
- Sophomore Derrick Fleming - 800m - 4:44.76;
- Junior Shane Berglas - 3200m - 9:57.17;
- Senior Erica Teen - 300m Low Hurdles - 48.48;
- Senior Scott Muniz - Triple Jump - 40' 6½";
- Sophomore Bree Todd - Triple Jump - 31' 7"; and,
- Senior Bryan Barlow - Shot Put - 40' 4½".
The Warriors Track team is now off until a tri-meet on Saturday, March 15th at Mater Dei High School against Mater Dei and Esperanza.
