Apr 30, 2007 -- Duals conclude at Huntington Beach

We enjoyed a successful end to our dual meet season with a good meet against Huntington Beach.

REVIEW:  In the meet, the Girls Varsity won 75-61 after some nervous moments, the Boys Varsity lost on the last event of the day (a most exciting 4x400 where we ran our best time in a couple of years), the Boys Frosh/Soph won (100-31), the Girls JV lost, and the Boys JV won.  This makes our season league records:  5-0 for the Girls Varsity and a first place in the league, 1-4 for the Boys Varsity, 4-1 for the Boys Frosh/Soph and the Boys JV for second place in the league standing, and 3-2 for the Girls JV.

On the Girls Varsity we placed first in 11 of the 16 events with victories in both relays, triple victories from Cassie in the 400, HJ and TJ, double victories from Christine in the 1600 & 3200, Erica in the 100 HH and 300 LH  and single victories from Kyle in the 200 and Marjorie in the 100.  On the boys side, Phillip Tramposh registered three first (HJ, LJ, TJ) , Conrad Wozniak (1600, 3200) and Victor Sine (110HH, 300 IH) had two firsts and Scott Belz (12’ 6”) led a sweep of the Pole Vault to make the scoring very close.  In the Frosh/Soph division, future stars that finished first in their events included Bryan tenBosch (1600), Tim Pham (100), Adam Garrett (400), Derrick Fleming (800), Ryan Jansen (discus), Jeremiah Link (100HH & 300 IH), Shane Berglas (3200), Dean Solomon (LJ), Takuto Nakamura (TJ), Michael Callahan (HJ) and Colin Faulkner (PV).  In the Girls JV, Alaina Judd intimidated the opposition with her cast and cruised to 100HH victory, Bailey Misewicz, and Valerie Alderman earned victories.  In the Boys JV, Brian Barlow, Tan Tran, Daniel Biemann and Theo Perez were double winners and Geoffrey Swedlund, David Maas and Yu Oshibe scored first in their events.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK:  Alaina Judd made it clear that if something is important to you nothing can stop you from getting it.  The moment she was cleared to participate in track, having a broken arm did not matter as she won the 100 HH and ran her best time to finish second in the 300LH.  Cassie Stanislaw also competed with courage as she fought off her leg injury to come through with three crucial victories to help the varsity team stay undefeated in the league competition.  Phillip Tramposh’s triple threat materialized as he became a 20-40 man in the LJ & TJ and won his HJ.  Theo Perez was part of four victories in the JV boys level and performed tough even though his ankle was hurting.  Tim Pham performed extremely well once again in his regular events as well as stepping up in the 4x400 and run another solid 400.
