Warriors beat JSerra at Nike Extravaganza

Woodbridge 51, JSerra 38:  In Friday night's Nike Extravaganza at Mater Dei High School, the Warriors (20-5) beat the Lions (9-16) with a great third quarter.

  

Senior Ashley Ward led Woodbridge in scoring with 22 points on 7 for 9 shooting from the field and making all 7 of her tries from the foul line.  Senior Erin Beadle added 10 points.  Game details.

  

Leading JSerra at halftime by nine points, the Warriors pulled away with a 17-9 third quarter.  Woodbridge also started the game with a 20-9 first quarter.

Boys Basketball can't keep #3 Knights from league title

Warrior Ryan Garvin drives against Foothill  (photo by Miguel Vasconcellos, Orange County Register)Woodbridge 59, Foothill 68:  The Warriors (4-3 League, 10-13 Overall) worked hard against the third-ranked Knights (7-0, 21-2) but couldn't keep Foothill from winning a share of the Sea View League title on Tuesday night at the WHS Gym.

Woodbridge scoring was led by Nick Gstrein with 24 points who also had 15 rebounds.  Game details.  

  

The next game for the Warriors includes a time change on Friday when they play Huntington Beach at the WHS Gym.  The game is now at 7:00pm instead of at the original 7:30pm game time.  The Boys JV game is now at 5:30pm.  

  

JV Boys complete sweep; start 2nd round of league play

The Boys Junior Varsity Basketball team continued their winning ways over the past weekends.  

  

On Friday, Jan 22nd, they faced crosstown rival Northwood in a Sea View League match.  Woodbridge prevailed by a score of 74-51.  The next night in a non-league game the opponent was University High School.  The Baby Warriors were again successful after a slow start; final score was 60-42.  

Girls Basketball takes non-league victory from Tritons

Woodbridge 50, San Clemente 30:  The Warriors (18-5) trounced the Tritons (11-10) in a non-league game Saturday night at the WHS Gym.

Girls Basketball stifles Timberwolves scoring

Warrior Maddy Page defends against Northwood  (photo by Miguel Vasconcellos, Orange County Register)Woodbridge 61, Northwood 15:  The Warriors (5-0 League, 16-5 Overall) are playing suffocating defense and they continued demoralizing another Sea View League team on Friday by beating the Timberwolves (1-4, 10-10) at the WHS Gym.

  

Through the first round of league play, Woodbridge has won by over twenty points in each contest.  For the third game in a row, the Warriors denied their opponent from scoring double digits in each quarter of the game.

  

  

Woodbridge scoring was led by junior Samantha Doucette with 14 points followed by seniors Ashley Ward and Sara McCutchan with 12 points each.  Game details.

Boys Basketball beats Northwood after slow start

Junior Ben Wylly rips a rebound away from a Northwood player  (photo by Miguel Vasconcellos, Orange County Register)Woodbridge 49, Northwood 41:  The Warriors (3-2 League, 9-12 Overall) overcame several rough patches on Friday when they beat the Timberwolves (0-5, 8-14) at the WHS Gym.

  

Woodbridge started the game slow with turnovers and foul trouble in the first quarter, ending the period behind 12-9.  Gaining some rhythm in the second quarter, the Warriors kept battling throughout the first half and into the third period.  Woodbridge took over in the fourth quarter with a 10-0 streak to begin the period.
